Macie Kosch, Mom with Cancer, Episode 11

macieMy mom, sister, and I sat down for the podcast when it was first beginning to talk about my mom’s journey with breast cancer. When the podcast ended, I believe my mom was just finishing or had just finished chemo treatment. Well, she is now five years in remission! The 2-year and 5-year points are the most detrimental and important in overcoming cancer. We are all so proud of my mom, and of how far she has come and how strong she is, and was throughout her whole journey. Looking back, it was a really hard time to go through as a student, but it made me and my family so much stronger. We had to come together to be strong for my mom. No matter how hard times get, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel! My mom has now been taking extra time to make people aware of the fact that mammograms can sometimes miss breast cancer in dense breasts, and has encouraged women to trust their senses when something is feeling wrong in their chest area!
