Elise McGannon, Student Creator/Producer

When David proposed to me that we start a project to commemorate my last year of high school, I knew I was in for a treat. Thus, The Share Chair Podcast was born. It has brought me more joy and inspiration than I ever could have anticipated.elisemcgannon

Before The Share Chair, I had no idea what I wanted to study in college. I’d always loved NPR, music, and radio in general – starting our own podcast was just another nudge in the right direction. I’ve been studying Broadcast Journalism for three years now, while also serving on the executive staff of my school’s radio station and acting as a DJ for WLUW 88.7fm.

However, the most important takeaway from The Share Chair has been realizing the importance and relevance of empathy in our society. Barack Obama said, “Empathy is a quality of character that can change the world.” I believe this with my whole heart and am proud to say The Share Chair is a champion for empathy.
